How to keep your skin glowing during winter

Here are the super foods to make your skin glow this winter.

1. Olive Oil

Olive oil is good for your skin, especially during the winter when the skin tends to become drier. Being rich in vitamins A and E as well as several other minerals and natural fatty acids, it helps hydrate the skin to maintain its elasticity and softness.

It also prevents skin aging, the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, and protects the skin from free radical damage.

Before taking a bath, rub warm olive oil over your face, the backs of your arms, your elbows and your knees. Massage gently for a few minutes, then take a warm bath. Afterward, pat your skin dry and wipe away the excess oil. Your skin will become amazingly soft and smooth.
Also, use extra-virgin olive oil in salad dressings and cooking.

2. Grapefruit
Grapefruit contains vitamin C, an antioxidant that protects the skin from free radical damage. It also has lycopene that helps keep your skin smooth.

The potassium present in it can prevent wrinkles and age spots as well as protect the skin against harmful UV sun rays. The amino acids in grapefruit make your skin more firm and soft.

Plus, the unique phytochemical known as naringin in grapefruit reduces toxins in the liver, which results in healthier skin.

Drink fresh grapefruit juice on a regular basis during the winter.
You can also prepare a face mask with grapefruit and use it once a week. Mix the juice of ½ grapefruit, 1 tablespoon of honey and ½ cup of oatmeal powder. Apply it to your face, allow it to dry and then wash it off with lukewarm water. This face mask will provide smooth texture and natural radiance to your skin.

3. Avocado

You can also soothe dry winter skin with avocados. Being a good source of vitamins A, C and E along with monounsaturated fats, avocados help your skin lock in moisture. Also, this fruit contains folic acid, magnesium and potassium, which are all essential for healthy skin.

Plus, they help give your skin a more youthful look by reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
In addition to eating avocados, you can make a hydrating face mask with the fruit. Scoop the flesh out of a ripe avocado and mash it properly. Mix in 1 teaspoon each of honey and olive oil. Apply this smooth paste on your face. Allow it to dry, then rinse it off with warm water. Use this face mask a few times a week.
Avocado oil is highly moisturizing for dull, dehydrated and itchy winter skin. You can use this oil to massage your body before taking a bath.

4. Carrots
Carrots are loaded with vitamin A and other antioxidants that can keep your skin healthy, vibrant and glowing even during the harsh winter days. They can also prevent signs of aging like wrinkles, pigmentation and an uneven skin tone.

Plus, carrots contain the carotenoids beta-carotene and lycopene that help protect your skin against UV damage. Being rich in potassium, they also help solve the problem of dry skin.

Drinking a glass of carrot juice daily is a great way to keep your skin hydrated from within.
You can also make a moisturizing face mask with carrots. Mix 2 teaspoons of pureed carrots, 1 teaspoon each of honey and milk cream, and a few drops of olive oil. Apply it on your clean face. Let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, then rinse it off with cold water. Use this face mask a few times a week to enjoy soft, glowing and moisturized skin.

5. Broccoli

Broccoli is another healthy vegetable for your skin. It is packed with skin-boosting ingredients like vitamins A and C as well as natural estrogens that can do wonders for your skin.

While vitamin C stimulates collagen production to keep the skin healthy, vitamin A protects the skin cell membranes and prevents skin damage due to sun exposure.

Plus, the B vitamins in broccoli help get rid of dry, flaky patches, one of the most common skin problems that people have during the cold winter days.

Regularly eat broccoli to give your complexion a beautiful natural glow. Opt for steamed, roasted or blanched broccoli to get the most benefits from it.

Hair Mask with Cinnamon

Cinnamon Hair Mask: How to Make & Use

Choose a recipe and prepare ingredients. Take a bowl and put them into it. If you use oils in the recipe – warm them to a lukewarm temperature.
Don’t make oils too hot because you can damage hair or burn the scalp.

Mix ingredients in the bowl to get a deep brown blend. You can warm the hair solution in the microwave or put the bowl into a big pot of hot water to gently warm.

Be careful using an egg in the blend. For dry hair type it is better to apply egg yolk. If you have oily hair, you can use egg white. While washing off the mask, make sure the water is not hot. Otherwise, you will have boiled egg parts in hair which are hard to remove.

Before you apply a mask with cinnamon on hair it is necessary to go through an allergy test. It is enough to put a small amount of the mixture on the wrist or elbow bend. If discomfort like a strong and unbearable burning appears – wash off cinnamon mask immediately and don’t apply it on the scalp. Avoid contact of the cinnamon mask with mucous membranes of eyes and skin. If it happened, rinse immediately with plenty of warm water.

To apply homemade mask use hair dye brush. Or you can dip your fingers into the liquid and massage it into the scalp. Continue the procedure until the scalp is covered with the blend completely.

Spread the remaining mixture on the hair length. Duration of application depends on which ingredients were used. If you prepare the homemade mask with irritating compounds such as cayenne pepper tincture, onion juice, clove powder, cinnamon essential oil, don’t leave the mask on the scalp and hair longer than 30 minutes. In some cases, it is possible to prolong the period if you don’t feel any uncomfortable feeling.

The cinnamon hair mask is not recommended for girls with blonde hair. Powder may leave unwanted yellow tint in fair hair.

Lightening Hair with Cinnamon

Everyone knows that hair dyes based on chemical components can damage the hair, change their structure. Thus, in recent years, women who care about their hair health, are turning to a more gentle method of changing hair color. Benefits of using cinnamon to lighten hair can make you wonder! The mask on the basis of this spice doesn’t only lighten hair up to 2-3 tones, but also can give them a natural shine, making them silkier and healthier. Applying cinnamon mask for lightening natural color will help to keep your hair healthy without damaging.

About Beard

Did you know beards can prevent your facial skin from aging? Yes, that’s true, beard blocks facial skin from getting infected by pollutants. They can also protect your face from sunburn, frostbite, acne and pimples. But these are probably not the real reasons why beards are prized! Of course the type of beard a person can grow mainly depends on genetic factors but there are a few other ways that can help those unsatisfied with the amount of facial hair they sport. Know more on how to grow a beard.

Coconut oil massage is recommended for hair growth and that’s why it also helps with increasing facial hair.

Combine coconut oil with rosemary oil in a proportion of 10:1 (10 parts coconut oil with 1 part rosemary oil); this is important to prevent the essential oil from causing irritation of the face.
Take a little of this oil mix onto a cotton ball and apply to the face; rinse with cool water after about 15 minutes. Here is how coconut oil can help curb hair fall.

Amla Oil

Amla or the Indian gooseberry is said to be highly effective in increasing facial hair growth. It may be used alone or in combination with mustard leaves. Here are some other health benefits of amla oil.

Simply massage a little amla oil onto your face and leave it on for about 20 minutes; then rinse using cold water.

The alternative is to wash and grind a few mustard leaves into a paste and mix in a few drops of amla oil into this. Apply this paste to your face, leave it on for about 15 minutes and then rinse with cold water.

Do this 4 times every week and you will observe an improvement in growth of facial hair. Here is how amla helps control hair fall.

Cinnamon and Lemon

Powder a little cinnamon bark and mix one teaspoon of this with two teaspoons of lemon juice
Apply this paste as a thin layer over the face the then rinse with cold water after 20 minutes.

Of course, this remedy will not work for people who are sensitive to lemon and may feel a burning or itching sensation. Discontinue use if you find this kind of a reaction. If you don’t have such a reaction, you could use this remedy about twice a week for good results.

Eucalyptus oil

Like rosemary oil, eucalyptus oil is also an essential oil that can help to stimulate the growth of facial hair. But because it can cause irritation of the skin, it must be mixed with any carrier oil; olive oil or sesame oil is a good option.

  • Into half a cup of the carrier oil, add between 15 to 30 drops of eucalyptus oil
  • Mix and massage this oil onto the facial skin.
  • Allow it to remain for about 30 minutes and then rinse with cold water and a gentle soap if you find the oily feeling irritating.

While these natural remedies can help to increase the growth of facial hair in men, it is important to remember to pay attention to other factors, too. Make sure you eat a healthy diet that gives your body enough vitamins and minerals; here are 6 healthy foods you should eat every day. It is also important to keep your face clean by using a mild moisturizing face wash; however, avoid frequent washing with strong soaps that tend to dehydrate the skin. If you smoke, understand that nicotine does not exactly promote facial hair growth – so, here’s another reason to quit the habit. Here are some easy tips on how you can style your beard. Most important of all, stress is likely to prevent growth of facial hair; so keep stress at bay by a regular practice of yoga or meditation.

Men’s skin care

2 steps towards healthy, handsome skin

Men’s skin care step 1 – Cleanse

If you can’t find the time to do anything else – cleansing your skin is a must! Don’t worry guys; cleansing is just a fancy word for washing your face. This should be done every morning and every evening before bedtime. Just because you can’t see the dirt and grime on your skin, doesn’t mean that it isn’t there. Think about what you are exposed to on a daily basis: pollution, car exhaust, cigarette smoke, even room deodorizers. All of these little particles can land on your skin and cause damage so they must be washed away. However, this doesn’t mean that you can reach for that withered old bar soap. Ordinary soaps tend to be loaded with detergents and deodorizers and can be very harsh and dehydrating to the skin. A good facial cleanser is what you need. Men tend to have skin that is a bit oilier then women’s so find a cleanser that targets normal to oily skin for the best results. Remember, if you don’t cleanse your skin on a daily basis; the excess grime and oil could leave you with clogged pores and breakouts.

Men’s skin care step 2 – Exfoliate

Men, if you really want to see and feel a difference in your skin this next step is for you. Exfoliation is the process of removing the dead skin cells from the surface to reveal the new skin cells beneath. Think of an exfoliating scrub the same way you would a piece of light grade sandpaper. A few swipes on a jagged piece of wood and voila, you are left with a soft, smooth surface that looks like a brand new piece of wood. Our skin exfoliates naturally but, as we get older , the process of exfoliation starts to slow down and we need to help it along. Exfoliation can also help clean out the yucky stuff that can get lodged in your pores. Choose an exfoliant that contains scrubby particles to help smooth the skin and eliminate dullness. The bonus of using an exfoliant is that it will also help soften your hair follicles which can result in a closer, less irritating shave. And the best part? This is a product that you only need to use a few times a week.
